Art's first release in over 20 years includes guest saxophonist Blake Lyman and will be performing in both trio and quartet configurations for this event.
Resnick, a prolific composer, will be performing mostly original pieces and is known for his lyrical style and unusual but accessible compositions. He has toured and recorded with many jazz luminaries such as James Moody, Freddie Hubbard, Eddie Harris, Charles McPherson, Papa John Creach, Nat Adderly, Billy Hart, Jimmy Cobb, Al Foster, Benny Golson, Richie Cole, Bobby Shew, Gary Bartz and Charles McPherson to name a few. He has also recorded albums featuring his own music in trio and quartet formats including the recording of "Jungleopolis" which earned 5 stars in "Downbeat " magazine.
"Art is one of the most versatile and original piano players to join Alto Madness, always bringing a new and exciting sound when he performs".
"Last Wednesday was one of Portland's resident great artists, Art Resnick, with his new trio. Art has played with the greats, and composes also in the "classical" realm. The trio played almost by mental telepathy--beyond me how everything came so beautifully "together." These guys are a real team, and I recommend catching them next time if you missed them. So many beautiful sounds from only three instruments! I remain in awe of this man and his accomplishment in a limited 3-man constellation."
