Ciao Music Lovers and Cinéphiles!

If you have not visited the Music Cleveland! home page recently then you are missing some great events.

But first a quick promotional word about our sister group, Ciné Arts Cleveland! – the new movie group.  You have a special advantage if you join outlined below.

Tonight (Friday 11/9) we’ll be seeing To Kill a Mockingbird at Cinémathèque.  There is still time to RSVP and purchase your ticket on-line or at the door.

Keep your options open as we just might post the new James Bond film, Skyfall for next weekend.  As well, mark December 26 or 27 for the new Quentin Tarantino film, Django Unchained.

Then, we have scheduled:

* Lincoln (2012) at the Shaker Square Cinema on Saturday, November 24, with dinner after at the Grotto Wine Bar.  We just received word that Grotto will welcome us with an across the board 25-percent discount.  Not bad -

* Life of Pi (2012) – 3D at Cinemark Valley View and LockKeepers after -

Here’s a synopsis of Music Cleveland! Presents concerts.

How about a free concert at the Cleveland Museum of Art by an international French pianist?  Amy is hosting the recital on Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Gartner Auditorium at the museum.   French pianist Hugues Leclère will perform 12 of Claude Debussy’s piano preludes, along with new works by living composers. We may head to a restaurant after depending on member interest.

Then on Wednesday, we return to Nighttown for an early 7 p.m. show by the legendary Freddy Cole.  He’s the brother of Nat “King” Cole.  And Music Cleveland! members on the VIP list will enjoy a 50-percent discount.  Since he has a second show at 9 p.m., we’ll head home in plenty of time for bed.

Friday after work (5:30 to 6 p.m.) we’ll gather at Muldoon’s Saloon on East 185th for a quick dinner before heading to the Beachland Ballroom for some blues and old time Rock-and-Roll with Tommy Castro and the Painkillers.  That’s just what the doctor ordered for TGIF– painkillers!

And there are many more events on our schedule including three visits to Severance Hall and the Cleveland Orchestra with Béla Fleck, Charlie Chaplin and Pink Martini.  Check them out and exercise your rights as a Music Cleveland! member - an amazing 50-percent discount on any seat in the house – from the heights of the balcony to the elite box seats.  But time is of the essence since these will all sellout.

A million thanks to Amy for hosting these Cleveland Orchestra concerts!

Lastly a plug for our Membership Dues - Please be up-to-date with your paltry $10 dues.  You can more than cover that by attending just one discounted concert.  And, if you play your cards right you can get a waiver of your membership in Ciné Arts as well.  Paid up members get a free $5 membership in the new movie group.

You may use the PayPal link on our home page or just pay the event host in cash at your next event.

Membership fees are used to cover the costs of being on and related administrative costs.  Organizers are not compensated.  Their hard work is simply dedication to their love of music, film and fellowship.

Oh, and if you’d like to organize or host an event, you will be quite welcome.  Please contact me for details and benefits!

Hope to see you at a concert or movie soon!
