Data Science Meetup on 18th August( Wrap Up)

Hi All,

First let me thank all of you who are able to join today Data Science Meetup session . Overall we have close to 70 Dats Science Members participated and I hope you found this useful. So to wrap up here are the following topics we discussed today:

Title: Cancer Outlier Discovery

Speaker : Julian Lee, Microsoft Advance Analytics TSP (GBB)

A core component in translational cancer research is biomarker discovery using gene expression profiling for clinical tumors. This is often based on cell line experiments; one population is sampled for inference in another. We disclose a semisupervised workflow focusing on binary (switch-like, bimodal) informative genes that are likely cancer relevant, to mitigate this non-statistical problem. Outlier detection is a key enabling technology of the workflow, and aids in identifying the focus genes.

Title : Put Intelligence API to work

Speaker : Sudarshan Roy, Microsoft Data Platform & Business Insights TSP

Abstract : Microsoft Cognitive Services let you build apps with powerful algorithms using just a few lines of code. They work across devices and platforms such as iOS, Android, and Windows, keep improving, and are easy to set up. We will demonstrate how easy to build a real time /intelligent Kiosk and use of BOTS to showcase Microsoft Cognitive Services.
