What was your reason for joining this group?

I created Cityscape Photo Tours Philadelphia thanks to our son, Ben. He went to college here and decided to settle in Philly in 2009. A few years ago, he and our daughter-in-law suggested that I start doing photo tours here, and as I started to scout locations, I realized what a great and photo-worthy city Philadelphia is. I since designed and conducted photo tours in Philly under other auspices, and decided that for 2016, I'd strike out on my own.

How long have you been a photographer, what would you say your level of expertise is, and what level would you like to be?

I took up photography when I was 17 years old, and I was an enthusiastic amateur until I was 30, when marriage, buying our first home, and starting a family become a much higher priority. So I had a twenty-something year hiatus until the turn of the century. Once I took up photography again, the digital revolution was on its way, and I jumped in. Since 2009, I've been conducting photo tours and teaching photography. The wonderful thing is, the more I learn, the more I find there is to learn.

What kind of subject matter appeals to you?

I love looking for and finding patterns and interesting details in everyday scenes. I'm also very interested in architecture and architectural details.

What new skills or techniques are you interested in exploring?

Tonemapping and going "beyond the presets" in using HDR software.

I LOVE talking about, teaching, and yes, actually doing photography. I design and conduct photo tours in Annapolis, Baltimore, New York City, and Philadelphia. Also, I teach photography as an adjunct faculty member as well as in private classes.
