Join us to learn about innovative initiatives that have been launched in Calgary to engage citizens in new forms of city building.

COVID-19 has and will continue to contribute to the greatest social change of our lifetime. Dr. David Finch and Dr. David Legg will discuss four Calgary initiatives that focus on leveraging the systematic impacts of COVID-19 for good. As a starting point, they argue that COVID-19 must force us to rethink how we measure our city. Rethinking measurement will trigger a flip of city building from top down centralized-planning, to one anchored in the principles of open innovation and citizen co-creation. During this talk, Dr. Finch and Dr. Legg will provide an overview of four-integrated Calgary initiatives focusing on flipping our city building model: The Community Prosperity Index, ActiveCITY Project, LearningCITY Project and the CreativeCITY Project.
