This month we're going to be exploring the intersection between design and sustainability and ask: what is happening in the worlds of UX and design that can help?
Special thanks to Boston Consulting Group Digital Ventures (http://bcgdv.com) for providing a venue, drinks, and food for the evening. <3.
7:00 welcome and introductions
7:10 Steps you can take today to make greener digital products
Tim Frick, Mighty Bytes
Fresh from finishing his book Designing For Sustainability (http://shop.oreilly.com/product/0636920043904.do), author and Mightbyte founder Tim Frick will outline why you might care about the impact of the digital products you use, and what you can do to use and design greener services.
We'll follow up with brief Q and A session.
7:40 break for drinks, then return for community announcements
If you're hiring, or have a project you're looking for help with, here's your chance to get the word out.
8:00 Activity - How would you redesign it?
In groups, you'll have a chance to try doing this yourself - in your group, you'll be given a budget, and scenario to work out which steps you might take to redesign how the service is delivered, before sharing back to the group and discussing.
We’ll be finishing up the event with a fishbowl session - expertise and insight can come from anywhere in the room, and fishbowl session is a moderated panel discussion, where anyone can join and leave the panel to allow for this.
9:00 - drinks and networking
We have the space until 9:30.
