Cleanweb is the use of digital technologies to address environmental challenges, resource constraints, and tackling climate change.
There are few places where the challenge and potential of delivering urban spaces that work for both people and wildlife is more apparent than in London. This month, Cleanweb meetup will look at how digital technology will be used to better manage our urban ecology.
Here is our line up of speakers:
INTCATCH (http://www.intcatch.eu/): Delivering SMART rivers and lakes - John Brydon and Natalie Gilbert
John and Natalie will be talking to us about INTCATCH, an EU funded project which aims to revolutionize water monitoring and decision making using digital technologies and innovative tools, such as robotic boats covered in sensors. John and Natalie work for Thames21, who are responsible for implementing INTCATCH in London's urban rivers. Thames21's aim is to improve rivers and how communities engage with them in London and the surrounding areas.
Treeconomics (http://www.treeconomics.co.uk/projects/londoni-tree): Valuing London's urban forest - Keith Sacre
Keith will talk about the i-Tree London Project which assesses and quantifies the multiple environmental benefits that London's trees deliver to Londoners. Treeconomics is the UK market leader in measuring and valuing the benefits derived from our Urban Forests.
NatureBytes (http://naturebytes.org/): Digital making for wildlife - Steve Mowat
Steve will be talking about how they are connecting people with wildlife through digital making. NatureBytes is growing community of makers, engineers, scientists, schools and individuals all transforming digital making for wildlife. Naturebytes also provides unique maker kits and educational courses for people of all ages to develop skills in computer programming, design, technology and natural sciences to enable everyone to connect with wildlife in new and exciting ways.
