Cleanweb February - Lightning Talks

After so many of you braved ice and snow to make our last event in January we’ve definitely got a treat for you this month.

More fantastic talks & people! Free food & drinks! Live streaming! New venue! Oh my!

When and where

The second cleanweb UK meetup of 2013 is taking place on 25th Feb, at Forward Technology’s lovely event space, with more than double the capacity of our last venue.

After leading with a talk about Building Sustainable Cities from Honest Buildings, we’re opening up the floor to the community, for a series of lighting talks.

New to lightning talks?

For those new to the format, lightning talks are simply short talks, designed for ease of participation.

If you’re working on an interesting project, or found something cleanwebby and worth sharing, and you can fit into 5 minutes, then here’s your chance to share it with a community of like minded people. We've put together a quick guide for anyone thinking of speaking here, to answer a few common questions.

Extra perks this month

Also, because Forward are such wonderful, wonderful people, not only are they opening up their bar to us, and providing the pizza - all gratis, but they’ll also be helping us livestream the talks, and record them to put up here.

  • 6:30 - 7pm: Doors open
  • 7pm - 7:25 Nick Katz, Honest Buildings Building Sustainable Cities from Honest Buildings

Nick will be talking about how Honest Buildings is using the web to share information about projects happening all over the world, to reduce the environmental impact of construction, and create a more transparent industry.

  • 7:30 - 7:45 Break: Refreshments, chit chat, networking etc.
  • 8:30 - later: Onwards to Brewdog: comfortably the best beers within walking distance of Forward.

Where can we see a recording of the session, I would like to check out Lily's bit again? Or are the slides available to view anywhere?

really interesting and varied; the only criticism i'd have is that they weren't very cleantech-oriented, but i don't mind because they were engrossing anyway.

I think there is a difference between cleantech and cleanweb... Discuss!

I'll defer to you in this regard, I don't really know where either name came from. But if there is a difference then I'll be sure to use it to troll Chris in the future...

I see there's a mention of live streaming.. does this mean I can watch remotely on Hangout or something similar? I'd be keen :).
