Smith Rock Overnight, Climbing + Sun - All ages and levels

Details

The forecast calls for sunshine! This time of year is the ideal time to enjoy Smith Rock. Although you should be prepared for cold nights. We'll make this an organized trip open for all abilities. We'll plan on climbing near the Morning Glory wall, overboard area, and Dihedrals on Saturday where there is a wide variety of climbs available for all skill levels and ages. Of course it could be crowded so we may split into two groups depending on how many want to come. The max size of this group will be 12.

Please state whether you can climb LEAD, TOP-ROPE, or are a BEGINNER. A $15 dollar group fee is required to reserve your spot and helps to ensure committed attendance and offset the work of planning the event...and being the rope-gun :). It is not refunded if you are a no-show!

The weather could change, of course, and force us to cancel. Check your email the day before you leave to the meetup location.

Attendees are responsible for their own climbing and camping gear/food. We can share ropes provided they are in good condition. Please make a note if you don't have a rope or other pertinent gear. I have extra harnesses, shoes (sizes 8 to 11), and 2 helmets.

Kids are welcome! Dogs are allowed but must be on a leash at all times.

CAMPSITE: Bivouac area

COST: $15 to reserve your spot in the group, $5 per person for campsite + suggested $28 from non-drivers to drivers for gas. We recommend each non-driving person donate 10 cents/mile to be split evenly between all drivers. For this trip, the total round trip driving distance for our drivers will be about 280 miles or $28 bucks per non-driving person.

PERMITS: State park pass required for all vehicles. This is included in your campsite fee.

CARPOOLING PLAN: Final carpooling plans will be arranged at the meetup site. We encourage folks living close to each other to carpool to the meetup site if possible.

WHAT TO BRING: Hiking/Approach shoes, sandals/Flip flops might be a good idea, plenty of water – at least 1 liter, sunscreen, lunch, backpack for your gear, sunglasses, hat or sunvisor.

If you have any questions, just ask!
