What we're about
Would you like more self-confidence in front of an audience?
Do you need to deliver a presentation at work, to say what you mean at a meeting, to make a speech at a wedding or other social event, or to give a vote of thanks?
Would you like to join a friendly and supportive bunch who will allow you to do that at your own pace, while providing you with helpful and constructive feedback? Then welcome to the Clitheroe and District Speakers Club.
We are a group of people from the Ribble Valley and its surrounding areas who all have the same aim: to become better public speakers. Some of us are looking to further our careers, some are self-employed, some are retired, but all of us are looking for an enjoyable evening where we can learn something to help us become more confident when speaking before an audience.
Why not come along and start on your path to becoming a better public speaker?
Our meetings usually consist of a mixture of prepared speeches and short impromptu talks, all given by members. All following the structured programme of the Association of Speakers Clubs to take us along the path from being a, perhaps nervous, beginner speaker to being able to give a masterpiece speech.
It’s all done at the pace which suits the individual member - you will never have to run before you can walk.
Everything we do, from the talks to how the chairperson did, is evaluated within the meeting. This gives constructive feedback and allows the speaker to find out what they did well, and what they might do a little differently. We meet on the first and third Mondays in the month at 7.30pm (arrive a little earlier) in the comfortable offices of the Lancashire Federation of Young Farmers Clubs, Ribblesdale Centre, Lincoln Way (Auction Mart), Clitheroe, BB7 1QD. Full details, including how to contact us at speakersclubs.uk
Although new to the Meetup site, our club has been going strong for many years.
Come along for a free taster session and get on the path to a more confident you.
