September Lightning Talks

Lightning talks! Lightning talks are short presentations, between 5 to 15 minutes worth, with as few or as many slides as you like. Any clojure-topic is of interest!

So far we've four speakers lined up, including a talk titled "A New Clone Army: ClojureScript on Lambda" by Kevin Noonan. I'll be presenting one of the topics below, and there's at least two more confirmed speakers. If you'd like to join the roster, there's still time! Come tomorrow and we'll include you in the line-up.

Looking for inspiration? Here are some ideas for short topics:

• Build tools: Leiningen vs Boot

• Introduction to macros

• Destructuring of arguments in Clojure (2 slides?)

• core.match, one step up from destructuring

• Mini-Kanren, core.logic & prolog-style dataflow in Clojure (probably a bigger one!)

• What I wished I’d known when I started out in Clojure

• Converting idiomatic object-oriented code to functional Clojure code

There are tons of others, and it’d be great to hear your experience reports, your favourite Clojure libraries, or even your negative experiences - what you struggle with when learning or using Clojure.

The event starts around 7pm with pizza, and there'll be a trip to the pub after the talks for anyone interested.
