Program
16:00 – 16:15 Opening by Weolcan.
16:15 – 16:45 ‘The continuous process of architecting and optimizing your cloud environment’, by Rackspace.
In cloud it’s important to make the right decision in the design phase as it is very costly to reverse engineer once you scale up your cloud environment. In this presentation, Rackspace will explain the pitfalls when you design a solution, which is not ready for scale. We will explain why architecting and optimising your environment is a continuous process with cloud. We will also demonstrate the tools we use for our clients to optimise cost and performance while maintaining the highest level of security.
16:45 – 17:15 ‘Managing the billing process in a multi-cloud environment’, by Thijs van Hofwegen of CloudBilling.
An increasing amount of organizations is pursuing a multi-cloud strategy to leverage the varying capabilities of cloud service providers. One of the major challenges in managing these different solutions residing in different cloud environments at a variety of cloud service providers, is the billing process.
The complexity of these cloud environments causes challenges in setting up chargeback to customers. This is exactly the problem CloudBilling is trying to solve: being able to perform chargeback of cloud services from multiple providers through a single, consilidated bill. Thijs will tell you all about it!
17:30 – 18:00 ‘Real world cloud management with VMware vRealize Suite', by Viktor van den Berg of PQR.
Viktor van den Berg will talk about VMware’s Cloud Management Platform vRealize Suite. With vRealize Suite you can monitor, manage and orchestrate a great variety of virtual and/or cloud environments. vRealize Suite includes a self-service portal which allows users to request IT services such as virtual machines, applications, containers and more.
Based on his experiences in the field, Viktor will talk you through the most important features of the solution and discuss some of the projects he was involved in. Focus will be: self-service, capacity management, automation & orchestration. Viktor will also talk about challenges your organization might face when you start working on self-service and orchestration.
18:00 – 19:00 Networking, drinks and some slices of pizza.
