Title: Closing the Adherence Gap: Where Practice Meets Policy

If security were purely dictated by policy, then we’d never have a breach, right? Wrong, duh. Anyone can create a policy – MFA everywhere, don’t share SSH keys, don’t push API keys to public GitHub repos – it’s the practice that matters, and what most companies struggle with. The outcome we really want is controls that adhere to the policies. Closing that gap is no easy task, however, as there’s no standards to follow and so many environments to consider.

Hope is not all lost – thankfully, we can look to Google’s BeyondCorp as evidence that it is indeed possible to close the adherence gap. This talk will cover what Google got right, and what other companies can do today to get started on the right path. Speaker Bio
