Inaugural CloudFoundry Vienna Meetup with Docker Bratislava

Details

Hey Folks,

we're excited to invite everyone to the first Inaugural CloudFoundry Vienna Meetup on March 5th, 2015! We will be discussing Cloudfoundry (http://www.pivotal.io/platform-as-a-service/pivotal-cf) with super exciting speakers from PIVOTAL (http://www.pivotal.io/).

Pivotal Cloud Foundry is an open source agile Platform as a Service (PaaS) that changes the set of things that a devops individual interacts with when developing, deploying and managing cloud-based applications. No longer is that developer concerned with virtual machines, networks and storage; instead they are focused on and working with applications and the services they leverage.

Our first meetup will be a joint meetup with our friends from Docker Bratislava Usergroup (https://www.meetup.com/Docker-Bratislava/).

Agenda:

6:30pm Meet and Eat

7:00pm "CloudFoundry Intro" by Johannes Tuchscherer

in the first talk, Johannes (https://www.linkedin.com/in/jtuchscherer)will give an introduction to CloudFoundry. What is CloudFoundry? How does it compare to other PaaS? Where does it go? And can I use with my Docker containers? If you ever wanted to know the answers to these questions, please join us on March 5th.

7:45pm Break

8pm: "Cloud Foundry Extension Points" by Michal Jemala & Igor Mihalik

Michal (https://www.linkedin.com/profile/view?id=8508064&authType=NAME_SEARCH&authToken=evcl&locale=en_US&trk=tyah2&trkInfo=tarId%3A1422548120812%2Ctas%3Amichal%20jemala%2Cidx%3A1-1-1) and Igor (https://www.linkedin.com/profile/view?id=4770688&authType=NAME_SEARCH&authToken=weig&locale=en_US&trk=tyah2&trkInfo=tarId%3A1422547497415%2Ctas%3Aigor%20MIhalik%20%2Cidx%3A1-1-1) will walk you through the extension points the platform offers to its users. We will cover CF CLI plugins, custom buildpacks and the Service Broker API.

Cloud Foundry has a comprehensive feature set already built in and for most of the time your requirements will be already addressed. However, as Cloud Foundry has been designed with extensibility in mind, you would be able to incorporate additional functionality with ease.

8:45 pm: Beers & Networking
