“An American Marriage” by Tyari Jones 🌹
I’m usually not a fan of Oprah’s book club selections, but this one was recommended to me and the story sounds interesting. The link is below: An American Marriage: A Novel (Oprah's Book Club 2018 Selection) https://www.amazon.com/dp/1616208775/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_tgAIBb3MXXGE4 I look forward to the discussion over some soul food! What we're about

This is a book club for people who would like to read books by black authors. We will work from lists of top books and group member suggestions. We may revisit some old classics or read them for the first time. We will delve into both fiction and non-fiction, newer authors and literary icons.

We will read one book per month and discuss over Sunday brunch at alternating locations. Don't worry if you can't attend every month - just do the best you can. If we select a longer title, we may take two months instead of one.

I coined the term "Cocoa Riser" to describe a fan of black literature who acknowledges s/he is sexy, funny, smart and so much more, and also wants to improve the global condition by working in community to reach common goals for our families, our neighborhoods and ourselves.

Let's not just read, let's "RISE!"

Here are a few lists to give you some ideas:

Since we will be meeting at restaurants, please change your RSVP if you can't attend an event, so we have an accurate headcount for the venue.

I look forward to meeting everyone and discussing some great books!

    Trish
