Come celebrate the completion of Eric Jackson as Co-Captain! You'll also hear Dee Williams talk about "The Real Asheville" project. And there will be time for breakout sessions.
Ms. Williams, an Asheville native, is a Political Economist and Demographer. She was the Manager for Field Operations and Deployment for Census 2010 for the 28 counties of WNC.
As former Chair of the local NAACP Criminal Justice Committee, Williams organized the collaboration between PRC Applications and the Southern Coalition for Social Justice, which began Open Data on Criminal Justice Reform.
"The Social Determinants of Health for African-Americans - The Real Asheville Initiative” is a project that grew out of the mission of United Community Development of N.C., a local community-based non-profit. Its mission is to remove economic, social, and educational barriers by using data to identify barriers and craft policy solutions by people who are most impacted, generally, low income people, and more particularly, African-Americans in Asheville, NC.
