What we're about

Code for Charlottesville is a local chapter of the Code for America Brigades focused on improving the lives of Charlottesville residents. We will work with local government to fix local services, utilize open data to improve citizen knowledge, and work to the betterment of all. We are just getting started so there are plenty of opportunities to use your skills. Even if you are not a tech type, we can still have opportunities for you to contribute. So come by and become part of a movement to improve our community.

How to get involved:

We don't generally post events to Meetup except for new volunteer orientations and special events.

1) Most of our group activity and discussion happens on a chat platform called Slack. Please join our Slack here: https://communityinviter.com/apps/codeforcville/code-for-charlottesville . You'll receive a message shortly about the channels associated with different projects that you can join.

2) To make sure to are kept up to date on messages and conversations, download the free Slack desktop client here: https://slack.com/downloads/ . If you leave this program open, you will receive notifications of new messages that are relevant for you. (This saves us from a BUNCH of emails!)

3) For meetings related to particular projects, check out our brigade calendar here: https://www.codeforcville.org/calendar

4) To access certain features of our website for members, register here: https://www.codeforcville.org/volunteer
