  • In-Person Social Event

    Wunder Garten

Whether you are new to Code for DC or are a long-timer, come meet like-minded people! Although out project nights have been virtual over the past year and a half, we have had two successful in-person social events and are looking forward to another!

The plan is to hang out in the range of 5:00–8:00pm; come and go as you wish. It's possible people may hang around longer or go somewhere else afterward.

    IMPORTANT:
Please join our Slack (https://codefordc.org/slack) for updates on the day of the event! There, you will be able to find details on how exactly to find us. Also, in case we need to change the venue or if people decide to migrate somewhere else afterward, we will post there.

    OTHER NOTES:
    — If you're able to arrive right at 5pm, please do so, as there can sometimes be a scarcity of table space and we aren't able to have a reservation, so it helps if we can have more people to stake out more space early.
    — The venue is outdoors, however, we will likely be in a tented area. Airflow situation TBD. There will presumably be some level of heating.
    — You are attending at your own risk and comfort level, and will be agreeing to abide by all applicable health rules. Make sure to bring your mask for situations where it may be required. Also, be vaccinated.
    — The venue may be limited to ages 21+. Make sure to bring ID.
    — The venue serves both drinks and food. More details here: https://www.wundergartendc.com/
    — This is not a project night. We will not be working on projects. This is strictly social!
    — The venue is wheelchair-accessible.

Code for America has been on a journey of reimagining the future of our volunteer community.

Through the 10-month ReVisioning Project, we’ve gathered hopes, dreams and aspirations from across the network and turned them into tangible, actionable strategies that will be supported and resourced by Code for America and rolled out by YOU across the Network.

Meanwhile, we've all been experiencing rapid and unprecedented change — some of it good, some of it not, all of it exhausting. Is now the time for more?

Change is hard, and complex, and scary.
    - Will these changes address my struggles or exacerbate them?
    - Will it lift up my existing work or invalidate it?
    - Will my partners and colleagues still belong?
    - Do I still belong?

Before we move full steam into implementation, we want to hold space to reflect on where we are... and what is coming. We can navigate this season of change in way that supports us all, if we do it together.
