Civic Action for Justice - National Day of Civic Hacking

Details
Coders, law-professionals, gov-folks, citizens one and all, you're invited out to our sixth annual National Day of Civic Hacking!
This year we're focused on Amendment 4 voter restoration and transforming the way government delivers services to those impacted by the criminal justice system.
Ex-fellons who have committed a nonviolent crime now have the opportunity to restore their voting rights through Amendment 4. Come together with your community as we discuss how this impacts us all and what we may do to raise awareness and ease of expungement.
Some of the projects we'll work on:
-
Creating a user-friendly “Know Your Rights” site about Amendment 4 voter restoration and criminal record relief
-
Journey mapping/process mapping Amendment 4 voter restoration and criminal record relief (i.e., expungement, sealing, dismissal, reduction, etc.) process in Miami and the State of Florida.
-
Creating a services usability scorecard, which evaluates the services available to people seeking Amendment 4 voter restoration and criminal record relief (i.e., expungement, sealing, dismissal, reduction, etc.)
Work on a project of your choice!
What to bring: A laptop or tablet and a refillable water bottle
Schedule:
9:00 am - 9:45 am Registration & Breakfast

This year’s NDoCH coincides with National Expungement Week, an effort led by organizations across the country to help people in the process of clearing their criminal records. This is a great opportunity to work with partners who are already doing this important work, and lift up their voices in our community, while and being part of an effort to transform the record clearance landscape by expanding, streamlining, and automating the process.
We're proud to host and partner with the Wilkie D. Ferguson, Jr. Bar Association, ACLU of Florida Greater Miami Chapter, and Wyncode Academy on this event.
