--- NEW LOCATION!!!!! ----
We are now meeting at Uncorked Studios.(https://www.uncorkedstudios.com/)
--- MEETING ITINERARY ---
[ 6:15-6:30 ] Arrive and check in to get your table assignment.
When you first arrive, please look out for someone from Code For PDX who will be checking people in. If you already know which project you want to work on and have been to a meeting before, you will be checked in by name and sent to the correct table. If you are a newcomer or aren't sure which project you want to work on yet, you will be sent to the initiation area, where we will get you connected on Slack and Meetup and have information about each project to browse through. If you decide to join one of the groups or want to simply observe, just ask our check-in person and we will send you in the right direction.
[ 6:35PM ] Check in with your assigned group.
Once you have been assigned a group, you will check in with the project manager for that group and have some time to chat with others in the group or get a drink.
[ 6:40PM ] Project Managers start group meetings.
This is where the fun begins and the project managers will start to form a plan for each project with input from the members. We will work on projects until 8:45PM.
[ 9:00PM ] Wrap Up w/ Project Managers.
We will then discuss expectations for the next meeting and next steps for each project.
[ 9:00PM ] Meeting ends.

--- CURRENT PROJECTS ---
All projects use a Flask, ReactJS stack.****
#1: ACCESS TO JUSTICE
On Hiatus. Looking for a Project Manager.
#2 PUBLIC HEALTH SOCIAL MEDIA SCRAPER
Partner Organization: Clackamas County Health, Housing & Human Services
Problem: County needs better tools to assess public health issues and concerns
Goal: Improve the county's ability to assess potential public health hazards and modernize the county's disease fighting ability, specifically with regards to Hepatitus A
Output:
- Social Media Scraper: searches for epidemiological keywords related to Hepatitus A within the county and produces data points which can be used to analyze health issues
#3 RECORD EXPUNGEMENT
Partner: Multnomah County Public Defender's Office
Problem:
For many folks who have had run-ins with the criminal justice system, punishment doesn't end with the end of their sentence. Well past the period of incarceration, a criminal conviction can follow a person around for the rest of their life, preventing them from accessing housing, employment, and services which might otherwise help them integrate back into society.
Scope:
Qualified Convictions
Goal:
This project will democratize the expungement process by making it available to all Oregonians, regardless of their ability to pay. It further seeks to provide these services in the communities that need them the most.
Proposal:
Create a form and decision tree to help expungement providers at the Public Defender's office quickly determine which items on an applicant's record are eligible for expungement.
#4 Dwelling.ly
Problem:
The nonprofit Join is currently working to help transition people out of homelessness. However, their current system for staying in touch with landlords is currently inadequate.
Goal:
Create an app with a robust ticketing system to ensure Join staff can connect with their landlords and clients when an issue arise. This will allow Join to provide support and improve success in transitioning people out of homelessness.
Proposal: Create a mobile=friendly Ticket system to connect Join staff with their respective Users and Landlords
