Intro to Geocodes: Using Geocodes to Identify Your Location on Earth

Details

This is part of our series of tech talks given by our current immersive students.

This talk will be held in English and German (if there is demand), though Japanese speakers are encouraged to come! Translation help in Japanese will be provided for those who need it.

Summary:

What are Geocodes and how do you use them?

We'll be exploring how APIs like Google's Map API calculates the distances between two geocodes. We will also go over how to build a radius search and how to interpolate a geocode.

About the Speaker:

Christian has over 15 years experience in software development and has worked at several well-known companies including one of the largest newspaper publishers in Europe. For the last decade, he has been the lead developer in one of the largest hotel comparison-site companies in the world.

Fun fact: he also built one of the largest German animal exchange sites.
