• Wiki Loves Monuments Challenge + Mapping Data Jam!

Get more details about Wiki Loves Monuments (https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Monuments_2016_in_the_United_States) (we'll be doing some photography work and some editing, too, this day). Also, the meetup may run longer than 1pm - we're happy to be there for you! Make sure you RSVP and reach out, though, so we know you're participating. And message me (Adam Porroni) if you have any other questions! See you all soon!

  • Mapping + New Idea Meeting

We have been working on mapping every single Mercer County elementary school district catchment zone. Because when many people move to a town, they don't know which school their child attends (Zillow and Trulia are not accurate). We have every municipality mapped, except the biggest one, Hamilton. So our meeting will likely involve finishing Hamilton, combining all of the other mapped areas and publishing it, with conclusions and, eventually, a blog post about our work. We can also discuss future projects as fall is around the corner. We will have coffee and bagels.

  • Mercer County School Mapping Day

We are looking to finish up our mapping project. Many Mercer County families don't have easy access to maps on what neighborhood their children would attend elementary school. We have collected data from every Mercer County district and now need to combine the maps and put them all in one place. Note the noon starting time. We will look into getting lunch from nearby Thomasena's. See you there!

  • Code for Trenton Map-a-thon

An interesting project that we have been working on involves elementary school district boundaries in Mercer County. We've found that people who want to move to the area, don't know their neighborhood elementary school. Websites like Zillow are not accurate and most districts don't have the information online. Trenton was one that did (https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/viewer?mid=1mOGFtJtlrHiyPjnpUGf-lRzzjUM). So we requested the data from each district in the county and now have all of the information. Now we need to "map hack" and code/ draw the lines on Open Street Map and eventually Google Maps. Many questions abound on how we can use this open data for good, but for now, we need accurate, sleek online maps. Hope you can join us!

  • Dev Hack Day #9/ Game Challenge
