It's Spring and we're back for the March edition of CodeUp Stockport at our regular venue - the Bredbury Hub (https://twitter.com/bredburyhub), on March 27th.

This Month our very own Jim Evans will be providing an introduction to version control using Git, modelling a game of tic tac toe using Git commands alone.

This should be a very practical lesson that should give the impetus to getting some of your very own Git projects up and running.

If you want to take part, please set up an account for yourself at https://bitbucket.org/ and install the appropriate version of Git for your laptop from https://git-scm.com/downloads - we'll be using both for the majority of the workshop, so if you're having trouble installing, feel free to drop Jim a message. We'll be using the command line version of Git, so there's no need to install any graphical Git software.

Once Jim's finished up, we'll have some time for a general Q&A / drop-in session, where you can pitch your burning queries. If you get chance to post them in the comments section beforehand that will help us out a lot.

Don't worry if you've never been to one of our sessions before, we're a friendly bunch and we'll get you started.

Further info

CodeUp Stockport is a mentoring program for adults who would like to learn how to code for free. Once a month we provide a workspace for people with no programming skills to come and learn the basics, with mentors available to answer your questions and help you on your way. Our sessions are suitable for people with basic skills who need support, and even for people with intermediate or advanced skills who want a space where everyone is immersed in code!

We'll provide a supportive space to work - just bring your laptop, your curiosity and your hunger to learn!

NB If you are coming to CodeUp with a very specific question or problem, please comment with details so we can try to have a mentor in attendance who can help you!

One more thing, there are some free parking spaces available, but please only use those marked with an "M".
