Currently, our weekly sessions are on hold due to COVID restrictions. Stay tuned, we will post here once we are ready to reopen!
At CoderDojo, we help kids learn coding for free.
As part of the non-profit Code Club Luxembourg (http://codeclub.lu/), we're bringing the CoderDojo program of free coding clubs for 12-18 year-old kids to Luxembourg, mentoring youngsters every Thursday evening at the Level2 hackerspace.
Join up if: • you're a parent who wants to get their kids involved, • a coder who would like to coach the kids, • or like a number of our members... you're a parent who codes and wants to do both.
Kids of all abilities are welcome, but their parents have to sign them up.
This is the weekly CoderDojo in Luxembourg at the Level2 (https://level2.lu/) hackerspace.
It is intended for 12-18 year olds, but younger kids are welcome too.
The dojo is a the perfect place for young people to learn about technology and programming in particular, to work on their own ideas and collaborate on creative projects.
Bringing your personal laptop is a good idea, but you can also borrow one from our pool. You may also want to bring a healthy snack to keep going, free water is at your disposal.
Perhaps most importantly: Bring your curiosity to think outside of the box, respect everyone unconditionally and be happy to be with like minded people.
A parent has to be present at the start and end of each session. If you are 12 or under, your parent should stay with you during the session.
Mir schwätze Lëtzebuergesch, wir sprechen Deutsch, nous parlons français, we speak English and we will adapt to the variety of the group.
Are there any ID requirements or an age limit? The idea of CoderDojo is to enable 12-18 year olds to get into programming and technology. We are not strict on age. but for younger kids (7-11) you may first want to get in touch with Code Club Luxembourg (http://www.codeclub.lu/) to see where elementary school courses take place. Age is only given as an indication, so when in doubt please drop by!
What are my transport/parking options? There is a plethora of parking spaces around the Bonnevoie area and public transport is running in 10 minute intervals. Click here for more details (https://wiki.hackerspace.lu/wiki/Location)
What can/can't I bring to the dojo? Any form of intolerance or technology aversion should be left outside. Please bring your curiosity, your motivation and your laptop if possible. We do have some spare laptops around but coding on your own machine is always better.
