Tharindu is a Senior Software Engineer in the Platform Security Team at WSO2. He has worked in developing enterprise level Identity and Access Management solutions and has extensive knowledge in various security protocol implementations such as OAuth, OpenID Connect, SAML, XACML etc. He currently works on industry adoption and automation of security processes/policies for ensuring the end to end security of the entire software development life cycle at WSO2. Pentesting Wireless Networks and Wireless Network Security by Ayoma Wijethunga - WSO2
"Regardless of residential or corporate environments, wireless networking has been trending, bringing WLAN equipment revenue up to $5.2 billion in 2015. Unlike wired networks, wireless networks go beyond the walls, and could transmit your corporate or personal data in a way anyone else can eavesdrop. With the quick adaptation of wireless networking, control of smart devices, including smart home devices and smart cars that might be at hands of a blackhat hacker. Looking from a different angle, every time you connect to an untrusted wireless network, a malicious attacker might be listening to your communication.
This session will technically discuss security risks associated with wireless networks, with near real-life demonstrations. Different network security mechanisms and their weaknesses will be discussed. Towards the end of the session, we will be discussing best practices that should be followed to secure wireless networks and your data over wireless networks.
Demonstrations will include following.

Ayoma is a Software Engineer at WSO2, Platform Security Team. He has been a security enthusiast from the early days of his career in which he developed solutions relevant to travel, banking and e-learning sectors. Ayoma has actively involved in multiple security compliance audits, including PCI PA-DSS. In addition, he is an IoT and electronics hobbyist, who is currently contributing to strengthen WSO2 security architecture and secure software development process.
