What we’re about
Welcome to Colorado Backgammon
The Colorado Backgammon Club is part of the USBGF Local Club Initiative and a PRIME USBGF Club. We provide players a chance to participate in tournament and league play on a regular basis, as well as learn basic rules and strategy of the game, including how to use the doubling cube. All events are conducted by volunteers with personal commitments to making every event a fantastic experience, while working towards growing the backgammon community.
We currently meet for League Tournament play every Wednesday and try to play on the weekend once a month. You must be a USBGF member to participate in tournament play. From time to time, we will be offering free Novice and Intermediate weekend clinics, so check back occasionally to see what is on the schedule. Free clinics do not require USBGF membership, but there are tons of resources available to its members, so check it out.
Please spend a moment and check out our websites – DenverBG.org and ColoradoBackgammon.com. The Colorado Backgammon Club uses Meetup for all online and venue information as well as updated tournament and clinic details. Tournament rules governing play are posted on the USBGF website. We play using the Crawford rule and legal moves.
*All Staff are strictly volunteers, please contact us if you would like to help.
**100% of any and all donations and / or proceeds go towards maintaining the Colorado and Denver Backgammon programs and member benefits.

All players are welcome. We offer different levels of competition based on your skill level.
Division 1 - Bison (PR < 7) is our highest skilled division made up of top rated Open players, of which some are considered Masters; a premier player and fluent in tournament play, they tend to make very few blunders per match (huge mistakes) and are considered experts.
Division 2 - Gunslingers (PR 7 – 10) is our average skilled division made up of average Open players and top rated Advanced players; an experienced high-level player and quite familiar with tournament play, they tend to make very few blunders per game (huge mistakes) and generally know their skill level relative to the field.
Division 3 - Warriors (PR > 10) is our moderately skilled division made up of average Advanced players and Intermediate players; an experienced player, but often play more creatively rather than by the book, with a tendency to make a few blunders (huge mistakes) per game.
Division 4 - Greenhorn (PR not applicable) is our division for new players. Novice players typically make up this division; they have never played in one of the other divisions previously, has limited, if any, tournament experience, and modest or no experience playing with the doubling cube.
