Please welcome our guest speaker Mark Pedrotti for part two of a deep dive into functional programing with JavaScript.

Mark Pedrotti is coming full circle back to development after serving in other roles to build desktop software for people throughout the developing world. He learned the hard way to learn new features of JavaScript one at a time instead of all at once :)

The ECMAScript 2015 standard includes arrow function notation to write shorter and simpler code, especially when you:

• map each element of an array to something
• join elements of an array into one string
• write a function that returns a function
• filter only certain elements of an array
• reduce an array to an aggregate value

The goal is for you to feel that if you learn ES2015 one feature at a time, you can:

• read it fluently
• write it confidently

Starting with examples of functions in familiar notation, we will practice rewriting them in arrow notation.
