Date: Saturday 9/29 Time: 9.30am-1pm Location: Oakland Mills Village Center (near The Meeting House!) Free Registration Link: For CSC: Please register at the link above and then let me know which ride you want to do (6 or 13 mile). We’ll gather day of (location at Oakland Mills Village Center - near The Meeting House) to start together[masked]am. This is a fun ride - not a race! And even if you register for one ride, you can change day of! From the event: This year’s 13-mile route starts at Oakland Mills Village Center and crosses the pedestrian bridge over Route 29 twice, winding through the villages of Town Center, Wilde Lake, Owen Brown and Long Reach, before returning to Oakland Mills Village Center. Riders looking for a shorter ride — including families with young children — can complete the first half of the ride, ending at Oakland Mills Village Center. This year’s Columbia BikeAbout has a theme of “Ride the Vision,” with interpretive signs featuring quotes from Columbia’s founder, James Rouse, from his papers held at Columbia Archives. Riders are encouraged to stop at sites along the way to discover the history of Wilde Lake Rock, check out the interesting poster trees at Lake Kittamaqundi, and get a firsthand view of the original village/neighborhood concept and land purchases Columbia was built upon. An important aspect of Columbia’s design was preservation of the land. The topography, stream beds and heavily wooded areas were preserved as much as possible. Lakes were created and pathways built to make the natural environment accessible. Columbia BikeAbout is an easy way to explore the extensive 95-mile pathway system, which contributes to the high quality of life that defines Columbia.

What we're about

Founded in the early 1980s, Columbia Ski Club (CSC) started as a group of adult ski enthusiasts who wanted to come together to enjoy meeting new friends and participating together in the great sport of skiing. Over the years, we have evolved into a group of nearly 500 members who enjoy all types of sporting, travel, social, and civic activities. We are a fun loving group made up of Singles, Married Couples and Families who welcome the opportunity to embrace new friends and members! Our Monthly General Meetings and Activities are open to any interested party wanting to find out more about CSC or just make some new friends! The club puts together between 9 to 11 North American and 1 to 2 European Ski weeks each season, plus several non-ski trips throughout the year. Come out and join us for our next event!
