What we're about

The intent of the Ohio Data Visualization Meetup coincides with the mission of the Visualization Hub at OSU. Namely the goal is to link interested parties with experience in (and questions regarding) visualization across the Columbus area and beyond.

While clear differences in the nature of data, intended use and target audiences exist across disciplines and contexts of design - many fundamentally common threads exist and inform best practices. At the core is the desire to ensure clarity of depiction, specific to the audience targeted, data and phenomena of interest. Critically rationalized and intelligent design must always serve as a starting point for strong visualizations. Nevertheless an awareness of existing tools and example applications of their use can be invaluable in guiding execution and may inspire new perspectives for both the analyst as well as their target audience.

We hope that through open discussions this awareness can be broadened and supported.
