This a group for all photographers who may be interested in sharing their time and photographic skills shooting the various Ohio Special Olympics events.
As you likely know, the Special Olympics is the world's largest sports organization for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, providing year-round training and competitions to 5 million athletes in 172 countries. Ohio is represented by numerous organizations in virtually every city in our state where there are people in need. The culmination of that local training and competition is the state events which are typically held here in Columbus, mostly at The Ohio State University. Last year was my first photographing this amazing event. I am now working to create better coverage of the events for the Ohio organization; and, most importantly, for the athletes..
It's an opportunity to shoot in one the most impressive athletic venues in America; and, to capture some great images of these amazing athletes. Believe me when I share that when these folks cross their respective finish lines, it is no less thrilling for them than it is for athletes at the real Olympic Games. It is an awesome thing to witness.
