Waiver

Please re-read Meetup.com's terms of service. You agreed to it in order to use this site. In general it says if an organizer or any member places a ride on the calendar and you get lost or something, it's your own fault. If someone runs into you on the highway or there is an accident, call the appropriate law enforcement agency and handle it like all other traffic accidents and not sue anyone in the Columbus Motorcycle Riders MeetUp Group. If you can't live with that, this MeetUp Group isn't for you. There is a liability release statement below on this page.

Release. Because we do not supervise or control the Meetup Group Meetings or interactions among or between members of Meetup Groups or Meetup Everywheres and other persons or companies, and because we are not involved in any way with physical transportation to or from Meetup Meetings or with the actions of any individuals at Meetup Meetings, and because we do not control Amazon.com, PayPal, credit card companies or other payment processing companies, and because we cannot guarantee the true identity, age, 3.3(b) (Meetup Everywhere Fees; New Meetup Everywhere Activation Fees), nationality of Platform users, and because we have very limited control, if any, over the quality, safety, morality, legality, truthfulness or accuracy of various aspects of the Platform you agree that you bear all risk and you agree to release us (and our officers, directors, shareholders, agents, employees, affiliates, subsidiaries, and third party partners) and Organizers and Creators or Hosts and their designees from claims, demands, and damages (actual and consequential) of every kind and nature, known and unknown, suspected and unsuspected, disclosed and undisclosed, now and in the future, arising out of or in any way connected with your use of the Platform, your Third Party Transactions, our resolution of any disputes among users, and/or your transportation to or from, attendance at, or the actions of you or other persons at, a Meetup Gathering. You further waive any and all rights and benefits otherwise conferred by any statutory or non-statutory law of any jurisdiction that would purport to limit the scope of a release or waiver. You waive and relinquish all rights and benefits which you have or may have under Section 1542 of the Civil Code of the State of California or any similar provision of the statutory or non-statutory law of any other jurisdiction (including without limitation the states of Missouri, Delaware and Pennsylvania) to the full extent that you may lawfully waive all such rights and benefits. [rev. 5/23/2010]

If you ride with the Columbus Motorcycle Riders MeetUp Group, you assume the following risk:

You understand that operating a motorcycle vehicle entails a certain amount of risk. You must currently hold a valid driver's license with a motorcycle endorsement and have the appropriate state mandated minimum liability insurance covering the vehicle which you will be operating on this ride. The vehicle which you will operate on this ride is in proper working condition and you have the skills and experience required to safely participate in this ride. You also are in good physical condition to successfully and safely operate your motorcycle.

Emergency Medical Information and Bike Disposition Information, along with emergency contacts is the responsibility of each individual and should be carried at all times on your person and motorcycle.

The Columbus Motorcycle Riders MeetUp Group is an informal group of individuals who meet solely for the purpose of riding motorcycles with other individuals. The organizers volunteer their time to organize enjoyable rides and all efforts are made to ensure a safe and successful ride.

As a condition of your voluntary participation in group rides, you hereby release, discharge, and hold harmless the Columbus Motorcycle Riders MeetUp Group and it's Organizers from any and all claims, demands, damages, or liabilities arising from injury to your person or property as the result of participating in this riding activity.

IMPAIRED RIDING?
Riding a motorcycle for me, and I hope you all, is a natural high and I never need any alcohol or narcotic stimulation of any kind prior to or during a ride.

Then there is the whole issue of impaired riding and with all the bad drivers on the road we don't need any slowed reaction times our fellow motorcycle enthusiasts. It's bad enough when other motorists drink and drive/ride or use/abuse drugs. You must stay at the peak of your alertness at all times to not only enjoy the ride, the scenery and the fellowship but also to be on "full alert" to other motorists, road conditions, weather and other factors.

Let me be absolutely clear on this issue: There will not be any reference to alcohol, it's usage before or during any CMR ride activity.

The potential safety, medical and legal implications are too high... and while we cant administer blood/alcohol tests prior to and during a ride we can certainly take a positive stand against usage before or during a CMR ride.

Whatever a CMR rider does on their own time after a CMR ride is up to them and their good judgment. I hope you all understand the reasoning, safety issues, common sense as well as potential liability.
