What we're about
This meet-up group is for kids and families living with autism who seek casual social connections with peers (that’s parents, caregivers, kids on the spectrum, and siblings). Some of us have formal supports in schools and clinics, but it’s through informal connections with others that we feel heard, understood, and not so alone.
It was clear at our first meetup that parents want to spend quality time with their kids in a supportive environment. All children are welcome at these meetups with a supervising adult. We hope to offer extra hands of experienced professionals in the future as well as adaptive parent-child recreation events as well.
The group is associated with Communities Engaging Autism, a MN nonprofit seeking to engage, empower, and educate parents, families, and community members.
Mission of Communities Engaging Autism (www.cea4autism.org):
Connecting young families living with autism to the information, strategies and support they need to engage fully in their homes, schools and communities. We are dedicated to building bridges between research, practice and everyday life. Here, families are the center.
