The Peanut Factory is planning the 3rd Annual Fig Festival at Spruill Conservation Farm to be held on August 9 & 10, 2025. Please find the link on the website or FB page to sign up for the yoga or the 5K.
The fig orchard at Spruill Conservation Farm is the only Certified Naturally Grown (CNG) fig orchard in the country, with over 50 fig trees, and over 20 varieties. Attendance at the festival more than doubled from our first to second year and we are expecting at least the same growth this year! Planned activities include on Saturday: Sunrise Yoga and 5K Perimeter Trail Run/Walk, followed by fig pancake breakfast, and swimming and paddling on the Albemarle Sound; on Sunday afternoon (1:00-4:00 pm:) fig tasting, live music, presentations on local history, competition for the best of YOUR fig creations, such as fig cake, fig preserves, fig BBQ sauce, etc. AND a cooking demonstration by celebrity chef Jamie Davis of the Hackney restaurant in Washington NC.
The Peanut Factory, Inc. is an artist residency program with a commitment to using the arts to raise awareness about the importance of ecosystem conservation throughout the Albemarle region and beyond. The organization owns and manages the 110 acre Spruill Conservation Farm on the south shore of the Albemarle Sound and runs the artist residency program out of a 1932 peanut processing mill in Edenton, NC, on the north shore of the sound.
