We will have a Big Planting Day III for our 2016 fall / winter community garden. This event will be very similar to our Big Planting Day last year.

The exact mix of vegetables and layout of the garden is still to be determined at this early stage, so think about that and make suggestions in the comment section below.

Our farmer, Mr. Joey Eason, has worked on levelling and draining the garden area and is spreading mushroom compost on the garden and the row crop fields.

You should wear old shoes or rubber boots for working in the garden and should bring gloves, a sun hat / cap, sun block lotion and a water bottle. We will have a bulk supply of bottled spring water. Please bring any seeds or plants that you would like to plant in the garden. Optionally, you can bring a leaf (broom) rake for covering the seeds in the beds and your favorite tool for setting out plants. You might also bring a chair for relaxing over lunch, a bicycle to ride to the sound and any special clothes or gear needed for the afternoon activities. You will be welcome to shower and change clothes in our mobile home after your swim. Please bring your own towel and wash cloth.

We need team leaders for various aspects of the plantings and for lunch prep and serving. Please volunteer to be team leader if you will. Children of all ages are welcomed and encouraged! They were an exciting part of our 2014 and 2015 Big Planting Days. Friendly dogs are also welcome.
