Hello Everyone! happy to announce our next meetup. This time we have very unique and exciting talk by's Executives Dr. Ido Omer and Ron Zohar. They will share their experience with challenges and opportunities in turning smartphones into medical grade [CE Approved]scanners.

Dr. Ido Omer, Chief Technology Officer, will discuss the challenges and opportunities in turning consumer smartphones into medical grade scanners. In essence, he will describe the different ways of achieving scanner-level color-reconstruction accuracy in an uncontrolled environment - a challenge which requires a profound understanding of color. Cracking this challenge was made possible thanks, inter alia, to the understanding that what one needs to measure is not color, but rather the spectral reflectance curve (or spectral signature). He will also discuss the considerations of dividing such task between computer vision and machine learning, mastering the camera pipeline, addressing data collection challenges and more.

Mr. Ron Zohar, Chief Product Officer, will discuss the fine balance between algorithms and humans. He will explain how the team used rapid prototyping to find the equilibrium between a complicated user experience, set to demonstrate very high usability success rates, on the one hand, and accurate algorithmic analysis, set to meet the regulatory requirements and demonstrate substantial equivalence, on the other. And essentially – how to successfully pass a 500 people double-blind clinical trial with an algorithmic solution.

about the speakers:
Dr. Ido Omer has some 20 years of experience in computer vision, many of them spent in solving color problems. At, Dr. Omer is the Chief Technology Officer, in charge of computer vision and machine learning research. He is an active duty fighter pilot in the Israeli Air Force and holds degrees in Physics and Philosophy from Tel Aviv University and an Executive MBA from Harvard Business School.

about is the pioneer in turning the smartphone camera into a clinical grade medical device. Dubbed by The Economist as “the rise of the medical selfie” our first family of products (digital urinalysis) successfully passed clinical trials, as it empowers patients to test themselves at home with no quality compromise. Our second product family (Chronic wound monitoring) is an assessment tool to analyze chronic wounds over time and facilitate better care coordination.
