Pizza and beer - we'll start off with the food and the drinks at 6.30pm.

Talk 1: An introduction to Concourse-Up - Jessica Stenning and Irbe Krumina

Concourse-Up is an opinionated CLI tool that deploys Concourse in a single command.
This talk will give an overview of how to use concourse-up (with examples), how Concourse Up operates under the hood and what new features might be coming in the future.

Talk 2: Concourse-Up: a product manager’s journey - Eva Dinckel

Eva is at the start of her career as a product manager and will be sharing the lessons she has learnt through her experience at EngineerBetter. She will explain how working on Concourse-Up, a tool created for easy concourse deployments, has been an enlightening journey thus far.

Openspace - Between the talks we're going to have an OpenSpace session. Two topics will be nominated by the audience, and we'll have breakout sessions for these between the talks.

Talk 3: How not to build a pipeline - Mirah Gary and Josh Hill

Pipelines are the infrastructure we use to test and deliver our code. We work with them every day, but sometimes they behave in unexpected ways. We will go over common failure modes and issues encountered in Concourse pipelines, and understand what we can do to prevent and solve these pain points.

Being able to build pipelines that work for you is critical for effective dev/ops. By sharing our own mistakes, we hope that the audience will be able to recognize them when they happen and know what to do to fix the problems.

After this talk, attendees will:

  • be familiar with common mistakes found in pipelines and how to recognize and correct them
  • be able to build pipelines that facilitate the development process rather than hinder it
  • understand how to refactor and improve their pipelines

Meetup Retro - An opportunity to get feedback on what went well, and what you'd like to see next time.
