Conga , Cowbell and Rhythm Workshop ($10 for newcomers)
Conga Drums cowbells and sticks will be provided . Feel free to bring any drum or percussion instrument you want. We are mostly focusing on Congas (other hands drums welcome if you want to bring ); cowbells, and bass drums. (Surdo, Bombo etc) The number one priority of this class is for all members to feel welcome and safe regardless of drumming experience . The class is $10 for first time participants. All others : $20.

What we're about

Come explore afro-latin rythyms from brazil, Cuba and much more. This class will focus on basic concepts of rhythm such as pulse and will get you "feeling the beat".

Cost : FREE for 1st time students; returning Students pay $20

BEGINNERS ARE WELCOME! CONGA DRUMS PROVIDED!

LOCATION: near 45th street and 9th avenue, exact address to be disclosed as people RSVP.

Dedicated students may be eligible to perform with Bloco Gumbo in the 2018 Village Halloween Parade.

Instructor Nick Herman is a New York-based percussionist, educator, composer and arranger. He is the founder and director of Quimbombó, a band dedicated to creatively interpreting Cuban music, and Bloco Gumbo, an energetic drum, brass & dance troupe that plays Carnaval music of the Americas.
He has performed for over 20 years in various venues including Lincoln Center, the Rainbow Room, Good Morning America, Radio City Music Hall and Rio de Janeiro's Carnival. Nick has accompanied dance classes at various schools including Ballet Hispanico and Alvin Ailey, and has taught private and group classes for children and adults at several schools in New York and New Jersey.
