Renegades, Rebels and Rogues: The Troublemakers of Judaism

Baruch Spinoza – Jewish Hero or Villain?

After what he called a lengthy internal struggle with his beliefs, Spinoza determined that the universe is ruled by Nature and that only through rational understanding could humans achieve happiness. When Spinoza was 23, his “abominable heresies” led to excommunication from his congregation and community. Come and gather over wine and cheese, as we learn the history and the sensational story of this Jewish philosopher who laid the groundwork for 18th century Enlightenment and modern biblical criticism. There is no cost to attend, but an RSVP is strongly encouraged.
