Wikidata – A Practical Guide to Querying and Visualising (in any language!)

Details

We are delighted to welcome a new speaker to the Connected Data London fold. Navino Evans is the co-founder of Histropedia, a project using data extracted from Wikidata and Wikipedia to generate interactive timelines on every topic in history. He is also an experienced Wikidata contributor with over 25,000 edits.

Navino will give an introduction to Wikidata (http://wikidata.org/), with a live demonstration of retrieving data via the Wikidata SPARQL Query Service (https://query.wikidata.org/) and using it to create visualisations such as maps, timelines and bubble charts.

He will also show how Wikidata’s unique multilingual data model allows you to view the query results and visualisations in virtually any language!

So do join us for what promises to be a fascinating and educational talk, followed as usual by drinks and snacks.
