In order to be accepted into our group, you need to read the following message. Please mention that you read it in the request for membership section by typing "I read the Mission message." Thanks!
Conscious Touch NW is a community of people (and a network of event planners) who are dedicated to teaching, promoting, and sharing healthy touch and who strive to be radically inclusive. We believe it is important for EVERYONE to regularly give and receive loving, affectionate, playful, and comforting touch!
If you are an open-hearted soul seeking to be in community where you can get your nurturing and playful touch needs met and help others get their needs met, then you should join us!
Our members are of all ages, genders, sexual orientations, races, abilities, lifestyles and more!
Many of our organizers and event planners are feminine-centric, queer inclusive, earth loving, goddess celebrating, geeky, artsy, quirky, hippie types. Put out what you want to attract, right!?!
Being a Meet-up is all about bringing people together to build personal connections. We will be hosting certain events and promoting other events that are hosted by our partners.
Conscious Touch NW only HOSTS events for you to join in community building, education and activism. But Conscious Touch NW PROMOTES our partner's events for you to attend also - events that are for exploring touch in all it's forms – from purely platonic gatherings to exploring sensuality and sexuality.
You will find more about all of this under the section “Everything You Need to Know About Attending Events”.
Please Note: For the remainder of 2016, we are primarily hosting and promoting events in the greater Portland, Oregon area. However, we are networking with event planners and communities across the Pacific NW and will be expanding throughout 2017!
First of all, we want loving touch to be available to anyone (regardless of their romantic relationship status) and we want to end unhealthy touch. Secondly, as a community, we want to know one another, support each other, and share caring and compassion together. We are an open-hearted community – we appreciate and nurture each other and help each other grow! We all want to feel connected and part of something meaningful!
The Conscious Touch NW community strives to be radically inclusive of all ages, all genders, all cultures, all abilities, all sexual identities, all classes, all religions, and all other walks of life. We are diverse and accepting, and we expect new members to be, also! We will not tolerate bullying, badgering, discriminating, or belittling.
BUILDING A CULTURE OF CONSENT
The members of Conscious Touch NW know how healthy touch is an important part of feeling happy and secure. It is physically healing to our bodies, and emotionally healing to our souls. We also know that it is easier to negotiate and navigate healthy touch when we have an entire community helping us clearly communicate, state our boundaries, and hold one another accountable. That’s why we teach about boundaries, negotiation, and clear communication. That’s why we are contributing to a new culture of consent. And, that’s why we have processes to address community conflict and accountability.
If you are an event planner and you believe this is the kind of community you want to share in and be a part of, email us and we'll tell you more about how you can apply to be an event planner in Conscious Touch NW.
This, my friends, is what Conscious Touch NW is all about. We hope you’ll join us!
