• Moroccan Inspired Dinner prepared by Chef Pip Harragin (with Foodnome)

    This is our first foray exploring the chefs who have signed up with the Foodnome.com platform. Events will be reserved-ticket, pay-in-advance meals hosted in homes rather than restaurants (if you want to be a future host and can seat 15, let us know). Her menu sounds delicious for a warm summer evening. We'll be eating on a screened in porch - dress accordingly and BYOB (bring your own booze). Here is the menu as envisioned now, but it could be changed a little depending on what is seasonal and fresh: MOROCCAN-INSPIRED VEGAN SUMMER DINNER FIRST- Harissa spiced watermelon with a fresh mint salad MAIN- Stuffed eggplant with cumin baby carrots (Eggplant stuffed with couscous, golden raisins, pomegranates, pine nuts and warm, earthy spices dressed in chermoula with a lemon tahini sauce.) DESSERT- Spiced strawberry sorbet with Moroccan chocolate cake (Warm, earthy spices such as cumin, cinnamon, and sumac add a twist to the classic sorbet and chocolate cake.) PRICE: $20 per person, limited to 15 people TICKETS: Go to FOODNOME.COM, create an account and purchase the amount of Gnomes (dollars, credits) you need (this dinner is = to 20 Gnomes).   • COOL Cuisine Burger Battle Awards Ceremony

    6:00 PM, Tuesday, April 23 at City Council Chambers 6:00-6:10 Presentation 6:30-7:00 Reception The COOL Cuisine Burger Battle planning committee is pleased to announce we will present awards to chefs and restaurants that participated in the March 2019 plant-based Burger Battle in Davis. The awards will be announced promptly at 6:00 pm in a short ceremony, witnessed by the City Council, followed by the City's Environmental Recognition Awards and followed by a short reception during a break before the City Council meeting continues. Note: the Davis Enterprise will have an article discussing the statistics of the event on Sunday, April 21, and awards list will be published there April 24. This event is open to the public!   • COOL Commotion: Farmers Market Lunch and Food Recovery

    COOL Cuisine is broadening our outreach this year including community actions (COOL Commotions) that help those in need have access to fresh vegetables and fruit and encourage plant-based eating. This is the first of 4 quarterly events (Jan/April/July/October) where we: 1) meet at the Farmers Market food court (11:30), show the vendors with plant based options some love by buying brunch/lunch to eat together at the tables (11:30-12:45), 2) then we will supply the volunteer power to the Food Recovery Network at UC Davis and Yolo Food Bank by collecting donated veggies and fruit from the farmers (12:45 meet at C/3rd), 3) transport over to Solano Park Apartments (a short bike/walk away) to 4) set up and distribute the food to residents (1:30-3:00).     Join us in our 2nd Annual Pre-Thanksgiving Recipe Try-Out Potluck! Test out a recipe you are thinking of sharing with your omnivorous family for the holiday and come get ideas of other dishes you could make. We can all share our tips and tricks. We love our COOL community and everyone had a blast doing this last year! I recommend bringing a few empty containers to take home leftovers and share them with one another.   • Beyond Sausage at Sunrise Rotary Oktoberfest

    Support one of the COOLest service organizations in Davis! Enjoy Beyond Sausage bratz at the annual Sunrise Rotary Oktoberfest BBQ. Includes bratz, side salads, and a complementary wine or beer at an event with 400 community members. COOL Cuisine will host a separate plant-based grill and serve up Beyond Sausage, which will not be available in Northern California until the end of October. Be among the first locals to try it out! We are happy for the opportunity to make such a community event COOLer. This rotary club is working to make their annual event more sustainable and COOL Cuisine is part of that effort.   • COOL Cuisine this Thursday try deVere's New Plant Based Burger and Appetizers

    At COOL Cuisine, we have fun events an vote with our wallets for COOL (planet friendly, plant based) menu items at local restaurants. This is a BIG change at deVere's, which previously had almost no items for plant based people. This burger was super popular in the Sacramento Vegan Burger Battle and they've added it to the Davis menu permanently. The appetizers are a special only in September. We tried them last night and they were completely popping with flavor!! Sorry for the short notice, but we wanted you to have time to go back again during this month. We are aiming for 30 guests. 1. Please RSVP by the day before, so we save you a seat. 2. As usual, bring cash to settle the bill, they will do one bill for every 4-6 people. Pay for what you order.     Back by popular demand, All You Can Eat at Nami Sushi! They prepare special plant-based rolls and nigiri that are not on the menu, just for us. Includes miso soup, sunamono, wakami, veg tempura, and a bunch of sushi rolls and nigiri. You must RSVP by Monday before the event so there is enough food and seats. Adults $26 (cash)/$28 (credit). Kids pricing: for ages 4-7 = $10, and ages 8-11 = $13. All are welcome, you do not have to be living a plant based life, curious and supporters are welcome!
