Hacking the Energy Collective

Details

Join us for a weekend, where we will try and hack lots of Ethereum related technologies to learn, how they can be applied in a real context.

Planning:
Hackathon runs from 10 am Saturday morning to Sunday at 6 pm. Afterwards Sunday from 7 to 9 pm there is another meetup, where people interested can join and learn about what we have built, more info here:
https://www.meetup.com/Copenhagen-Ethereum-Meetup/events/248770745/

About the hackathon:
The Energy Collective is the leading blockchain research energy project in Denmark. In Roskilde, not far from Copenhagen, 20 households of the eco-community are powered by solar PVs. Sofar 5 households, the main building and a charging station for electric vehicles are connected. The blockchain used is Ethereum and Raiden to allow for instant transactions.

In the common effort to create a community self sufficient on energy, we are creating a hackathon with the Ethereum community, where you can help co-create sustainable prototypes of our common future. Successful projects will get an opportunity to present their projects June 1st at a public event as part of the research project “The Energy Collective”.

More info on the project: http://weou.org/energy-collective/

Below are some of the prototypes we think would be interested to work on to help the community explore how they can develop further a local economy based around energy. Feel free to come up with your own ideas also.

LOCAL CURRENCY MODEL
The energy collective allows the residents to exchange energy between each other, but how can they foster their own local economy through the energy exchange and easily trade it with each other?
#ERC20, #MULTIDIMENSIONAL-CURRENCIES, #MOBILE-WALLET, #RAIDEN

LOCAL BANKING SYSTEM
Can a local banking system be created so the residents offer each other loans and charge their cars on credit?
#TRUSTLINES, #BANCOR, #MAKERDAO

GOVERNANCE OF BLOCKCHAIN NETWORK
How should a local blockchain network be set up, maintained and governed? Easy exchanges within the community are essential but, can it connect to neighbouring communities?
#POA, #POA.NETWORK

PERSONAL DATA
Within a community, data can be used to work towards energy autonomy,, but what data should be stored and how to preserve each resident's privacy?
#IPFS, #SWARM, #LINNIA, #OPENMINED.ORG

CROWDFUNDING OF FUTURE ENERGY
The energy collective currently relies on solar power, which provides little energy at night and during winter. Could crowdfunding through the provision of energy futures for a wind turbine or a large battery installation make the community self-reliant?
#SMARTCONTRACT, #CROWDFUNDING, #ERC20

SIMPLIFY CHARGING WITH ELECTRICAL VEHICLE
Can you provide a seamless experience between an electric car owner and a charging station provider?
#RAIDEN, #USER-EXPERIENCE, #DAPP

VISUALIZATION OF THE LOCAL ECONOMY
An “energy collective” can be an empowering concept. How can the data value flows within the communities and across several communities be visually demonstrated live and represented to the people living there?
#LIVE-VISUALISATION

ART PROJECT
The lightning in the outdoor passway can be controlled through an API.
How can the lightning system be gamified to help the community improve, when the consume energy, to lower their CO2 impact?
#SMART-LIGHTNING, #API, #PYTHON, #ELECTRICITYMAP.ORG
