What we’re about
This is a group for all rock and metal listeners in Copenhagen (and the surroundings), who want to meet other metalheads. Whether you like the riffs in trash metal, fantasy in power metal, paganism in folk metal, growls of death metal or shrieks of black metal you are welcome to join us.
*Please take 2 minutes to read the following, so you can get the best out of this group.
About our group
We are a super easy-going bunch of people – both Danes and internationals – who love to listen to and/or play heavier music (metal, rock, punk and everything in between) and just want to help connect those in Copenhagen & its surroundings with new friends and introduce them to different bands, genres and venues. We love live music, jamming, and going down the pub to chat (with or without drinks: your call). If you haven’t been to one of our events yet, you totally should. We’re not that scary, honest.
Attendance policy
We understand that life happens and things change, but please try and let us know if you’ve signed up to an event but won’t make it. Otherwise we might spend the entire night worrying about you.
Serial offenders will be marked as non-attendees, just so that our hard-working hosts know not to spend too much time waiting for/contacting them.
As Jesus once said: 'Thou shalt not RSVP Yes on Meetup and then stay at home in thine pyjamas watching Netflix without letting me know, or I cannot promise to save thy soul.'
And as Lucifer said: 'If thou have been flagged as a "no show" three times. Meaning: RSVP'd Yes, not showed up and not notified anyone, thou willst be excluded from the meetup group. Wankpuffin.' \m/
Events
Most of our meetups are created by the organisers, but we strongly encourage all members to be active and suggest events.
You can do so by writing to one of the organisers, or starting a discussion (see group's main page).
So if you’re a concert-freak and always up-to-date with all the metal events in the area, your knowledge will definitely be useful to us!
Or if you decide to go to a concert and would like to meet other people who share your taste in bands, we can create an event for you. In that case, you'll have the responsibility of being a ‘host’. It’s not as hard as it sounds. You just have to choose a meeting place/time and make sure that the attendees are aware of it by writing private messages and/or comments in the event page. **
**
And you can also suggest events in the Facebook group, but mind that not all the people from meetup are members of the FB group, so you'd reach more people by starting a new discussion on meetup. **

The Facebook group
Yeah, we have one of those. Find it here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/254082381762001/
We use it to float ideas about possible events, new venues, or just to see if anyone is up for going out or playing some music together. Join it, use it, invite your friends. Interaction is the key to new connections (but remember to stick to the rules…)
Group rules
(TL;DR – Don’t provoke unnecessarily, but also don’t be a massive snowflake.)
This should be self-explanatory to anyone accustomed to conducting themselves in society, but let’s set it out in writing anyway.
Just be excellent to each other. Respect the diverse range of nationalities, personalities and music tastes represented in the group.
Unacceptable behaviour includes, but is not limited to:
Racism, Sexism, Ageism, Classism, Ableism, Genreism, Jism, Homophobia, Xenophobia, Making people feel in any way uncomfortable, Trolling, Shameless advertising, Causing avoidable arguments, Not taking a joke.
NB. Swearing is allowed, otherwise we would have to kick ourselves out of the group, but swearing with the intent of causing offence is not ok.
Hope to see/meet you very soon!

ATTAN (NO)
Everything touched by this music takes the shape, color, and taste of tar. The Norwegian doom day’s orchestra does not leave you much space to breathe when they let their … industrial hardcore mutate into an unspeakable beast from the undergrounds. The bands speaks about their music in terms of the sound of a folk sucking the marrow out of its own legs. In the song “Black Liquid Marrow”, they sing self-critically: “it is our wealth that defines us, black liquid marrow in our bones”.
Gaerea (POR)
In the shape of beautifully embroidered calligraphy, Gaerea’s undying sigil opens a portal into the void – a liable alternative to a collapsed society. Their black metal is a chaotic whirlwind, a sonic-monolithic menace, a dissonant weapon embracing hopelessness. The title of the album Limbo (2020) denominates the rite de passage in which hierarchy and law temporarily dissolve, and where the destiny of humanity remains an untold tale. At their album, Mirage (2022), shines a glimmer of hope – a long-wanted catharsis, perhaps, or, as the title suggests, merely mirages?
Katla (DK)
Although Katla only have a few years behind them as a band, they have managed to carve a solid name for themselves on the Danish metal scene. We are very proud to call Katla one of our artists in residence. Like the dragon of the same name, Katla fires up a burning flame of hell-fire that will scorch the entire stage. It's heavy and uncompromising doom, blasting away with full force. Katla consists of three good friends and ruthless musicians, a guitarist, a bassist and a drummer/singer. There are no tricks up their sleeves, just rock-solid, murky doom made with lots of love and Satan.
Kollapse (DK)
Beauty and terror coexist as Kollapse dig into the fabric of existence, a frail creature hopelessly aware of its own mortality. Breathe. Inhale, exhale. Building of tension, release of tension. A pulsating body. In a crossbreed of noise rock, sludge and experimental metal, the band embodies a gnarled feeling of emptiness deep in the pit of your stomach releasing a tortured scream … While at the floor, you will find yourself slowly drowning in sonic viscera.
Mortiferum (US) will drag you down into the darkness. Their blaring and aggressive death/doom combines ferocious death metal with heavy, almost mournful doom and creates a soundscape that will attack all your senses. Their latest release, the critically acclaimed album Preserved in Torment from 2021 is a test of strength in madness with reviewers calling it muddy and disgusting. In a good way. Mortiferum is not for the faint of heart, but as soon as they get on stage, they’ll grab the audience by the throat and deliver a blast of a concert which will probably crack a few skulls along the way.
Offernat (DK)
The characteristic soundscapes of the Danish duo Offernat draw inspiration from a range of doom, sludge and black metal and deliver long structures of melody overflowing with anger and melancholy. Offernat invites us on an unpredictable journey into the darkness of their music. Through chaotic transitions and crushing aggression, the band and audience will rise from the dust together and create a community where the most extreme parts of metal music will reach whole new emotional depths.
Wolves In The Throne Room (US)
A throne room overrun with wolves is a ruined throne room. Criminals beyond the law, wolves symbolize revolt, as philosopher the wolf is an icon of critical reflection. As a wild animal, the sight of wolves erupts a basic anxiety: How did the wolves become kings and queens? On their latest EP, Crypt of Ancestral Knowledge (2023), Wolves add psychedelic and industrial depth to their atmospheric, folk - inspired and majestic black metal. You are invited to a musical - hallucinatory trip in which the wolf - regents will reconnect to unfathomable wisdoms of the past. - A Colossal Weekend, Day 2 @ Lille VegaVega, København

They are recognized as one of the world's fastest growing metal bands and have already performed at prestigious festivals such as Øya, Ultima, Roskilde and Tons of Rock. Saturday line-up:
Afsky (DK) - Artist in Residence
Alpha Du Centaure (FR) is a post-rock/blackgaze quartet from Lyon
BIG│BRAVE (CAN) The Canadian indie metal trio brandish aching
Cloakroom (US) Their music is slowcore space rock made on a bumpy road with a Midwestern charm.
Deerhoof (US) Since 1994, Deerhoof from San Francisco has been challenging their DIY comfort zone with discomfortingly new things, resulting in a sound that is both beautiful and insane. Their latest album, Miracle - Level (2023), comes with lyrics entirely in Japanese, and is conceptualized as a mystical manifesto on creativity and trust to answer the industries of deceptions, coercion and boredom. It is an avant - garde, anti - fascist carnival lit by candlelight for the miracles of the future.
Extra Life (US) presents an eclectic blend of math- and avant-rock with influences from chamber and medieval music. Led by singer, guitarist and composer Charlie Looker – an institution in the New York art-rock scene with a background in bands suxh as Zs and Dirty Projectors, Extra Life showcases a high level of musical wanderlust and virtuosity. The band released a series of important works from 2008 to 2012 and finally returned with Secular Works Vol 2 last year. Their distinct and unique approach to experimental music has always intrigued us here at ACW and we’re honored to be able to present Extra Life at A Colossal Weekend 2024.
Halvcirkel (DK) – Artist in residence + immersive concert
A string ensemble from the experimental chamber musical scene is visiting A Colossal Weekend. They have played music composed by themselves, Caroline Shaw and Philip Glass. Does it ring any bells? No worries, it may be worth checking out in detail what it means, when Halvcirkel states that their music expresses the emotional universe of our time. For example, they have released an acoustic version of the world’s most beautiful song, Carl Nielsen’s “Tit er jeg glad” (I am often happy), which will make you hold your breath and reflect on your encounters with people around you.Kairon; IRSE!(FI)
A band of four inner-space travelers from Seinäjoki, Western Finland. Allegedly, their self-released debut album Ujubasajuba (2014) knocked the planet off its orbit, which established their place in the canon of Finnish genre-bending freakout fusion. The neo-psychedelic rock band has a unique blend of noisy pop, shoegaze and psych rock, and are likely to bend your mind as well with their bold and energetic live performance.Lite (JP) Lite sings of places of wonder, where we dance with ghosts in the night, leave the past behind like soaring birds, where we find ourselves, and are reminded that we are small, yet part of something infinitely tall. Their compositions are progressive and exp losive, finely shaped and emotional, the riffs and rhythms so complex that they become post - math - rock - poetry themselves.
Offermose (DK) – Immersive concert
A lone shadow walks to the end of the world looking for ancient hymns and finds nothing but swirling dust, hears nothing but spectral voices whisper fragments of mysteries long forgotten. The electronic-musical darkness of Offermose invites immersion and can be heard as a meditation on how our broken hearts may carry what we have lost.Spurv (NO) from Norway recently released Brefjære on Pelagic Records and the album has instantly become post-rock classic and a serious contender to ‘record of the. Cinematic post-rock, delivered with energy and passion and the exact amount of fresh attitude which makes them stand of from the rest. You easily hear the inspiration from the pioneers, but their take on the genre is both refreshing and modern. Spurv currently resides comfortably at Nordic post-rock throne.
Sugar Horse (UK) are riding high following the release of their storied collaborative EP Waterloo Teeth, which features members of Heriot, Conjurer, IDLES, Biffy Clyro, and many more. A lot of people take the name Sugar Horse to be a drug reference - perhaps fitting for a band that sound like the last moments of a three-day binge. Darting wildly between dark/light, pain/bliss, sacred/profane, Sugar Horse are unpredictable and unrestrained.
