DevOps with VSTS and Donovan Brown + guests

Details

We are very excited to have Donovan Brown (https://twitter.com/DonovanBrown) (Principal DevOps Program Manager for Microsoft) aka Mr.Black Shirt visit Copenhagen on his European tour in June for this half a day of DevOps in collaboration with Microsoft Denmark.

We also invited two local developers who uses Visual Studio Team Services to share their knowledge, so we'll have a total of 4 talks during this afternoon in June.

Zero to DevOps / Donovan Brown (https://twitter.com/DonovanBrown) (Microsoft)

DevOps is about people, process and products. Getting it all right requires effort but the benefits to your organization and customers can be huge. In this demo-heavy session, Donovan Brown will show you how to go from “zero to DevOps” like a pro. Starting from just a blank desktop, he will create a new team project and a complete pipeline. He will also deploy an ASP.NET MVC application into Azure all live and hands on.

** Cancelled ** Building and deploying .NET apps as Containers with VSTS ** Cancelled **

Unfortunately, the speaker for this talk had to cancel. We are looking for a replacement, so we still have 4 talks.

Infrastructure as VSTS tasks / Poul Sørensen (https://twitter.com/pksorensen) (Ascend)

Visual Studio Team Services is very extensible and being able to create custom tasks makes it very powerful and flexible. In this talk Poul will show how he uses VSTS to solve problems at work and how he is using Tasks for a variety of different purposes.
We will take a look at Infrastucture as VSTS tasks: From an ARM template we will auto generate a VSTS Task that has input fields to help deploy infrastructure in VSTS Release Management or VSTS Builds.

We will also dive into the CI and CD setup for delivering products at Ascend, which involves a fair amount of smaller and larger libraries built with typescript.

Microsoft’s Agile Transformation Story / Donovan Brown (https://twitter.com/DonovanBrown) (Microsoft)

Microsoft reduced its delivery cadence from three years to three weeks. Microsoft Senior DevOps Program Manager Donovan Brown will discuss how Microsoft manages large, globally distributed Scrum teams to enable DevOps for Team Services and TFS.

Join us at Microsoft's offices in Lyngby and prepare to 'Rub DevOps on it'.
June 22th, put it in your calendar!
