Test Automation and agile software development are trends that are growing in popularity and on the surface may be considered to complement each other - but in practice this combination is difficult. E.g.

• The manual test effort is lacking behind the feature development and the product will thereby not become potentially shippable – Will test automation overcome the burden?

• The development of automated tests is challenged by the maintenance of the testcases as the product evolves and tests results deviate - How do we continually assure the value of the test automation?

• In the traditional development models test specifications tend to be complicated and comprehensive End-To-End tests - Does the agile mindset imply a different testcase design?

In this discussion, we will focus on how test automation best can be exploited within the agile process and explore the various approaches that may be employed when using test automation.

This meetup will be held as a roundtable discussion and the expected outcome is a common understanding of pitfalls and best practices for handling test automation in an agile development process.
