What we're about

This is a group for anyone interested in Open Technology in the Munster region (primarily Cork). Regardless of whether you are a contributor, operator, user or just a person with an interest then all are welcome. Meetings are open to all and offer everyone a chance to learn, present talks, meet people and have some fun. Each meeting will have 1-2 technical talks per month given by local members of the Cork Open Technology community with occasional guest speakers. The purpose here is to interact with people who may have different backgrounds but share the same passion for Open Technology. So come on up and enjoy!

Create awesome APIs using the OpenAPI Specification

Bank of Ireland Workbench

The OpenAPI Specification is a community-driven open specification within the Open API Initiative, a Linux Foundation Collaborative Project (supported by IBM, Adobe, Microsoft, Google, and others). The specification defines a standard, programming language-agnostic interface description for REST APIs. This talk will describe API design covering consistency and good practices. You will learn how to write an OpenAPI specification, and see the benefits of publishing the specification for developers by looking at the tools available. We will generate client code using Swagger. Then we will finish off with a discussion about maintenance of your APIs, as well as means for deprecating former APIs that takes your consumers into consideration.
