AUGUST 2017: We are currently closed to new members, unfortunately Meetup has removed the option of closing to members so this isn't clear in the settings - but new membership applications will not be accepted from now on. We may reopen to new members in the future, which is why this group will not be deleted.
To increase the security of our group, we have a 'real photos' policy. That means to join you must have a real photo of yourself for your profile picture, so no cats, various goddess or nature images will be accepted.
Circle of the Eternal Goddess is a place where women (18+) can come to study witchcraft and the esoteric arts in a warm, comfortable and friendly environment. Workshops, courses and open rituals are run by a number of witches - each with their own qualifications and experience - as well as a kaleidoscopic range of visiting guest teachers. We are based in the South-Eastern Metropolitan suburbs, although events are also occasionally run at other locations within the greater Melbourne area.
While events are charged on a per-booking basis, there are no membership
fees for the group and there are no commitments. Just come along to enjoy magical exploration in the Craft, and to connect with fellow practitioners and wisdom seekers.
This group is run by Green/Eclectic witches. This means that we draw from many sources and traditions, with an emphasis on working in harmony with the energies of Nature.
We are currently celebrating the eight seasonal sabbats together, you are welcome to join at any time of the year. The sabbats are about celebrating the natural cycle of nature and teaching us how to work with natural energies.
At sabbat celebrations we meet to discuss and examine the sacred nature of the season, learn about the traditions and associations of the sabbat and consider its relevance to our lives. Each sabbat includes a guided group ritual where participants are able to actively craft magic in a circle with fellow members. We then end each sabbat with a feast of seasonal food and drink to share.
Besides sabbats we run and inform our members about a variety of relevant workshops and events that may interest them throughout the year.
INTRODUCTION TO WITCHCRAFT
We are a pretty relaxed bunch! There’s only a couple of things we kindly ask of our members...
Firstly, we require everyone to treat each other with compassion and kindness, and to respect varying beliefs and practices. There is no pope-like person in the witchcraft world who has the right to dictate whether someone is a witch or not. If you identify yourself as a witch, then so you are a witch. This group respects and celebrates the beautifully diverse nature of spiritual practice, and we request that all of our members do the same.
Secondly, if you RSVP to an event, please either attend that event or let the organiser(s) know if you are unable to make it. Many of our events take an enormous amount of planning and preparation to run. It can therefore make things very difficult for us if people who have RSVPed simply don’t turn up. As a consequence, any members who have accrued too many unexplained “no-shows” may be removed from the group. This is simply to keep things fair to everyone – organisers and attendees alike – who put so much effort into making these wonderful events happen.
Do you feel you’d like to join us on a magical journey of wisdom seeking and connection with fellow practitioners? If so, then be welcome, Sister!
