What we're about

Many of us crave deeper connections in life. Not only with others, but ourselves, the environment around us, the physical world we live in, the infinite universe, or The Divine itself. Creating connection can take on many meanings and can look different for each of us.

Whether you feel it through your mind, your body or inner being, Deep Connection eludes many of us, thanks, in part, to the noise of the distractions all around us every day. Technology, social media, cultural expectations, schedules too busy to manage, etc., all can dampen our ability to make the very connections that we're craving for in our every day lives.

In this meetup, we will explore these barriers to true connection and help uncover the key principles to breaking through into those 10 seconds of courage that can transform the way you interact and engage, while at the same time learning to exercise your listening muscle to take these connections beyond scratching the surface and into real, authentic relationships.

Utilizing effective models and practices such as Conversation Cafés, TED Talk Discussions, Retreats, & Workshops, Free Listening Stations, Reading Groups, Food & Nutrition Awareness, Physical Mindfulness, Pay-it-Forward Actions, the Zentangle Method, the Kindness Rocks Project, Care & Compassion Programs, Adult Colouring Therapy, and many others, a more compelling picture can begin to emerge for you, and help create a greater awareness of how everything is so very interconnected.

In the end, our goal is to create opportunities for you to experience this awakening and transformation, that in the end will allow you to find more connection and wholeness in your life. We look forward to our journey together.

Intermediate Watercolour - Guided Art Class - Thursdays @ 1 PM ET (ON, CAN)

"When you can't go outside, go inside" and find a little distraction from the everyday with this on-line art class featuring intermediate level watercolour techniques.

Bring your curiosity to a meaningful activity that includes a mixture of stimulation, reflection, thought provocation, peaceful calm, relaxation and mindfulness.

Your guide will be Cathy Wild, who began painting as therapy in April 2016 after her own journey of self-discovery following brain surgery.

Cathy is excited to volunteer her time in helping others paint while continuing her own recovery. May you find yourself inspired by the giftedness that emerges through your creations.

Since the beginning of the pandemic in April 2020, Cathy has taught her level 1 watercolour class to students on-line every Tuesday, a community that has grown to nearly 100 artists any given week.

Many folks are now ready to take their skills up a notch and this class is an opportunity to develop new skills at an intermediate level and style.

Examples of some techniques that will be covered include a Salt Process, Negative Painting, and layering, to name a few.

MATERIALS NEEDED
- Watercolor paper for watercolours, preferably 140 lb. This can be Canson’s from Walmart or wherever you are able to order or pick up supplies.
- Pencil, painters tape, backer board (to tape art paper/canvas to), paper towel, brushes (Curry’s #0, #3 & #6), water dish, paper towel, 2nd water dish (for rinsing brushes), access to computer or tablet with a camera to see and follow the demonstration.

These classes are geared to an intermediate level of skill and experience. All are welcome to give it a try.

You can check out videos of past workshops, view pictures of finished pieces and follow updates at http://watercolour.creatingconnection.ca or visit our YouTube channel at http://watercolourtv.creatingconnection.ca

This week’s topic is Cooking
