What we're about

This group creates opportunities for you to experience deeper connections in life - either within yourself, with others, the world around us, or the divine cosmos itself. Whether you feel it through your mind, your body or your inner being, there can be an awakening and/or transformation that, in the end, leads to greater wholeness, purpose and a sense of belonging.

Utilizing effective models and practices such as Conversation Cafés, TED Talk Discussions, Weekend Retreats, Workshops and Seminars, Sacred Listening Circles, Book Clubs, Food & Nutrition Classes, Holistic Mind-Body Practices, Mindfulness and Meditation, Pay-it-Forward Campaigns, Krafting Kindness Activities, Care & Compassion Programs, Adult Colouring Therapy, Zentangling and Journalling , and many others, a more compelling picture begins to emerge of how everything is interconnected.

An Evening of Nurturing Spirit @ 6:00 PM EDT (ON, CAN) - Awakening the Heart

Awakening the Heart: Practices to Heal Ourselves and Our world

“As great as the infinite space beyond is the space within the lotus of the heart.
Both heaven and earth are contained in that inner space, both fire and air, sun and moon, lightning and stars…. Everything is contained in that inner space.”
Chandogya Upanishad

What does it mean to “Awaken the Heart”? or simply “Live from the Heart”?
Join Vickie as she guides you through an experiential understanding of the “Heart Centre”, and all its nuanced layers. Tune in to your physical heart, your emotional heart, and the great Universal Heart of Love that holds us all. Learn about the meaning and the transformative power of the Heart Centre from different spiritual traditions: the “Anahata” in Hinduism, the Sacred Heart in Christian mysticism, the Sir (or secret) in Sufi mysticism, and the Lotus Heart in Buddhism. Practice the Prayer of the Heart in Christian and Sufi mysticism and awaken your heart to the Love beyond the boundaries of religion or culture.

Bio: Vickie MacArthur

Vickie fell in love with the practice of yoga almost twenty-five years ago and feels that her own daily practice has sustained her through all the inevitable ups and downs of life. Both her practice and teachings has evolved from the vibrancy of an active flow style practice, to the restful peaceful presence of a deeply restorative practice. Vickie has a passion and gift for teaching the “Art of Slowing Down” in a world that is constantly speeding up. She teaches smaller personalized yoga and meditation classes to help people deal with many different health challenges whether cancer, fibromyalgia, chronic pain, depression, anxiety, and other conditions. She is currently finishing a two-year training program with Pacific Jubilee to accompany and support people on their spiritual path. She teaches through her studio “Spirit in Motion Yoga” and is a sought-after teacher for workshops and retreats both in Lethbridge and on the west coast.
Watch for Vickie's upcoming book "Love Letters To My Teacher: How A Buddhist Monk Ignited the Love In My Heart".

Intermediate Watercolour - Guided Art Class - Thursdays @ 1 PM ET (ON, CAN)

"When you can't go outside, go inside" and find a little distraction from the everyday with this on-line art class featuring intermediate level watercolour techniques.

Bring your curiosity to a meaningful activity that includes a mixture of stimulation, reflection, thought provocation, peaceful calm, relaxation and mindfulness.

Your guide will be Cathy Wild, who began painting as therapy in April 2016 after her own journey of self-discovery following brain surgery.

Cathy is excited to volunteer her time in helping others paint while continuing her own recovery. May you find yourself inspired by the giftedness that emerges through your creations.

Since the beginning of the pandemic in April 2020, Cathy has taught her level 1 watercolour class to students on-line every Tuesday, a community that has grown to nearly 100 artists any given week.

Many folks are now ready to take their skills up a notch and this class is an opportunity to develop new skills at an intermediate level and style.

Examples of some techniques that will be covered include a Salt Process, Negative Painting, and layering, to name a few.

MATERIALS NEEDED
- Watercolor paper for watercolours, preferably 140 lb. This can be Canson’s from Walmart or wherever you are able to order or pick up supplies.
- Pencil, painters tape, backer board (to tape art paper/canvas to), paper towel, brushes (Curry’s #0, #3 & #6), water dish, paper towel, 2nd water dish (for rinsing brushes), access to computer or tablet with a camera to see and follow the demonstration.

These classes are geared to an intermediate level of skill and experience. All are welcome to give it a try.

You can check out videos of past workshops, view pictures of finished pieces and follow updates at http://watercolour.creatingconnection.ca or visit our YouTube channel at http://watercolourtv.creatingconnection.ca
