[ONLINE] Conversation Café - Walkerton Edition @ 11 AM

Online event

In this new reality of self-isolation and social distancing we can still remain connected as an inclusive and meaningful community by taking conversation to the on-line world. In Walkerton, Ontario this used to take place in-person every Wednesday. Through ZOOM video conference we can keep that going while at the same time opening it up to folks here and everywhere. And so, from the comfort of your own space, you are warmly invited into dialogue with others and to discussing different topics each week while exploring some deeper questions along the way. In this safe, inclusive, casual, and accepting environment, dialogue is encouraged over debate as each person has opportunity to share from their own diverse perspectives and experiences. Folks in this group enjoy going beyond small talk, reflecting both inward and outward, helping build pathways for more peace and understanding in the world... and your voice matters! No particular set of beliefs (or creed) is required to be a part of this community building activity. Diverse perspectives are welcome. ABOUT PLANT BASED NUTRITION Plant-based nutrition isn’t a hard concept, but there are many concerns from a wide range of topics, about if obtaining proper amounts of nutrients is possible without animal foods in the diet. Our country has prioritized processed foods and a large amount of animal-based foods as being a part of the Standard North American diet, but it doesn’t have to be that way. We have the ability to eat a whole foods, unprocessed diet without eating animals and obtain all the nutrients we need in the process. Wondering about where you’ll get your protein, calcium, iron, and B vitamins? No need! Learn about how to base your diet off of whole foods, and how to be sure to eat a variety of vegetables, leafy greens, fruits, nuts, seeds, beans, and legumes. Jim & Janet will talk about how these foods all contain a variety of nutrients that will sustain someone who’s not eating animal-based foods and in the meantime, add more fiber, phytonutrients, and antioxidants into your diet. A whole foods vegan diet can give your body everything it needs, and here you can get help with some of the most common areas of concern, along with answers and information to explore, including a list of the most important nutrients you need and where to find them in a plant-based diet.
